Meeting Minutes

August 5, 2008

Attendees:  John Post, Bob Bryer, Linda Hurlock, Victoria Webb, Sarah Caspar, Tom OÕDonnell

Public Meeting

Sustainability Coordinator, Dr. Kolowinski, for WCU has volunteered to look into meeting room at the school.

He will also be attending our next meeting to share progress at the school in the area of sustainability.

Need ideas for panel discussion if we go that way

Task force presentation to public to talk about where the subcommittees are in their planning and asking for input

Not really sure if this is an activity that C&O should undertake on our own, big commitment.  We will continue to discuss the idea as a group and see what develops.

We agreed to add the question of an interest in a public meeting to be on the survey

Website

Discussion about Planning Commissions help with our website link.

We will probably recommend a better website dedicated to the Task Force.

Now that we have explored website options with the Planning Commission and understand our options there John will proceed with a request to Steve to put a link to ChesCogreen.org right on the GHGTF front page.

Survey

Tom will continue to pursue web-based survey tools within the county.  The Health and HR Departments may have a paid up tool.

John suggests a buy-in from Steve.  We know the Steering Committee will have to want to participate or the survey will not fly. We need to be sure we can do this logistically before we approach anyone.

John did some research on environmental surveys:

Great ideas for the types of questions that work best. Example: priority  setting

Economic versus environmental decision, É.

John suggests that we craft questions and submit them so we are leading the process.

Outreach Event Management

Suggested sequence:

We are doing the Exton Mall, GIS event. Victoria attended planning meeting today. Will get marketing director information for displays, logo and mission statement. Will submit budget for promo materials to Steve F.

Kennett Square would be a good feeler: Bob is suggesting that he may be able to be there using the brochure that he passed out tonight with modifications.

Focus of Events 1) introduce task force, 2) hand out what they can do, 3) draft survey 4) informational websites

Regarding resources, for example:

A display board

Web cards to handout

Informational trifold brochure

Exton Mall Outreach Project

Table top displays are encouraged.  Sarah mentioned a miniature village and Tom mentioned the firm that has a model house operated by solar.  No vendor sponsorship is allowed.  A list of resources is OK.

What will get people to our table????

Objective 1 is to advertise the Task Force.  We can ask the Subcommittees to display their message.  Perhaps a simple questionnaire to answer a question or two that we have would be fun and helpful.

Funding

We know some resources that can help with an economic analysis for free, ex. WCU

Give them the big picture for $$$ then ask according to timing

Network

Catherine Swan will get an email list of churches to Victoria

Bob will do Scouts through the Chester County council
